San Diego and Mexico

San Diego

What a wonderful time we had in San Diego visiting my brother Paul, Sister-in-Law Wendy, niece Amy and nephew Zack!

Highlights-

~We enjoyed having dinner at my brother’s house almost every night of the week.  It was so fun being able "to do life” together.  We stayed at an awesome RV park that was literally down the street from his house. It was so nice being that close so we could just pop in and out for a quick hello or for long evening chatting over a meal.

~ Our RV park had a great pool and it was perfect because it was super hot outside and the kids swam in it almost everyday with their cousin Zack.

~Paul and Wendy took us to a yummy Mexican Restaurant Called Marieta's

~ One of my favorite parts of the two weeks we were in San Diego visiting my brother was the chance to go running with him. He took me on a super fun 8-mile trail run that he runs regularly.  It was really special to be able to experience several of his routes that he is so familiar with, and to just hang out together and try and have a conversation while I was panting for air.

Wendy "the Chef" =-)
~ My sister Terri and her family came down to San Diego for two days. We had dinner at Paul’s house one night. The next morning we all met at a restaurant called Country Waffles for breakfast.  We then headed to the beach and the kids all enjoyed playing with these strange crabs called “Tuna-Crabs” that had washed ashore because of a storm.  That night we all went back to Paul and Wendy’s house for dinner.

~ We watched Paul’s kids one night so that he and Wendy could go out on a date. So fun to be able to do this and just hang out with my niece and nephews and have to cousins play with each other.

~Ally and Shelby watched Zack and Amy and all our kids one night while Paul, Wendy, Wes and I went to Islands Restaurant for dinner. It was great to be able to have adult time to just talk and laugh over some good food. Since Amy LOVES to do “projects” we got her and Zack a scrapbook to make while we were at dinner and Ally and Shelby helped them put it together.

~ One day I took the kids to the Natural History Museum at Balboa Park and the following day we took Zack with us to the Science Museum. Collin and Zack had such a great time together.  Collin was super excited to be able to have a sleep over at Zack’s house one night.

~ One of the weekends we were staying in San Diego  we went to Mexico to serve with Spectrum Ministries. It had been a whole year since we were there last and we all enjoyed serving again! We spent the night in Mexico at the Rosarito Beach Hotel.  That night we had dinner with the Kooi family. Matt Kooi serves as the director of Spectrum Ministries, and it was so fun being able to share with one another about how each of our families' past year had been. They took us over to meet another missionary family, the Hansen Family!  We had a campfire at their house and played "catch-phrase" and enjoyed getting to know them.
