We walked around down town Prescott and checked out the old Western Stores. One of the days we were there ,there was an art show going on downtown and we walked around and checked out the different vendors. We also stopped in the candy store and got a huge chocolate chip cookie for the kids. Down Town has a street Called Whiskey Row and on this street are many old saloons. “ The Palace” Saloon is the most famous bar in Arizona and is known for its popular visitors such as Wyatt Earp, Virgil Earp and Doc Holiday.
We spent an afternoon Kayaking on a small lake
in town called Goldwater. Large Pine trees surrounded it and it was nice and
peaceful.
One evening we meet up with Wes’ cousin Peter Hall who was
living in Prescott and was about to make a move to southern AZ. We had dinner
with him at Baja Fresh.
Sedona |
We took a day trip into Sedona and walked around the down town center. The red rock formations were beautiful. We all were hungry after the hour and a half drive there so we searched out an affordable restaurant. We found this cute little restaurant that had a beautiful garden all decorated with low string lights. Each chair had a Mexican blanket on it to cuddle up in while you ate your brunch.
Our favorite part of being in Prescott was that since we
were there for a couple weeks we had the weekend to spend in the community.
Usually we are traveling on a Saturday. One of the Saturdays we were in
Prescott we were able to serve with the local church pulling weeds at a women’s
shelter down town. We all loved being able to serve together again.
Lacey found a Toad on the hike |
Another afternoon we went on a hike to ‘Thumb Butte” . It is
a popular land mark in town. At the top
of the mountain Collin spotted a large snake. We watched it dig its hole in the
ground from a safe distance, then carefully went around it.
Ally and Shelby spent several days at the Library doing
their schoolwork and finishing up their school year strong!
Ace-ing both of their
online finals! Summer is officially upon us.
We were planning on staying in Prescott for three weeks, but
on Sunday morning as we were getting ready for church there was a sewage leak
in the RV Park and it happened to be
right next to our RV. DISGUSTING! So we decided to leave to California a week
early. No complaining about that ;-)
